Christ Church

United Methodist

A Reconciling Congregation

WELCOME

WORSHIP

TO  CCUM

SCHEDULE

Christ Church is a United Methodist congregation in central Denver. Our faith community takes seriously both the heart and the mind as we nurture the spirit of God. You will find a community striving to be real: combining intellectual questions along with heart-felt experiences to seek wholeness in living. We believe you will be welcomed, loved, and embraced in authentic and vulnerable ways. We believe there is a unique place to find hope in the midst of a dark, chaotic, and challenging world -  at the corner of 7th and Colorado.

Our hope is that you will find here a Christian community of integrity that will challenge you and encourage you in your spiritual journey. We invite you to be part of the community we call church.

Social Justice Update from Rev. Laura

This week has been one of looking at the news and the horrible discrimination taking place in places like Mississippi and North Carolina in the name of "religious freedom." We have our own bill here in Colorado that many people in our church, and our partners like The Interfaith Alliance have been working hard against in our legislature. As people of faith...read the rest of Rev. Laura's report here.

Ways to Get Involved

Adult Seminar, Animate Adult Education Class, and all Children's Education Classes will be taking the summer off. Please watch for more infomation on our fall kickoff in August.

Looking for a way to serve at Christ Church in 2016? Sign up to be a Greeter, Usher, Lay Reader, Acolyte, or to host Fellowship Hour. There is a button for Sign Up Genius at the top of the page on our website.

It's Almost Time for ROCK!

ROCK (Refugee Outreach Clothing Kids) will be at Christ Church again this summer July 10-18. This is an organization that ensures that refugee kids are prepared for their school year with necessary supplies. They need new or clean, gently used coats (size children's 4 through adult) or new school uniforms or clothes. Their biggest need is volunteers to set up, help children shop, and clean up on the days of the event. You can contact Gayla Dunning at d.gayla@gmail.com or visit www.RefugeeOutreachClothingKids.com for more info or to sign up to volunteer.

July 10 - September 4 Worship Series

While Rev. Eric is on paternity leave Rev. Megan will lead us through Ordinary Prophets for Ordinary Time. The brochure can be viewed here and printed copies will be handed out this Sunday. So many exciting things will be happening this summer, we hope you'll join us!

CCUM Open Golf Tournament

It's time for our annual CCUM Golf Tournament. 7:30am Saturday, July 9th at Park Hill Golf Club. Whether you've never been to more than a putt putt course before or you do 18 holes 5 times each week, we'd love to have you join us! You can sign up with a team or come as a single and be assigned to a team. Please bring your friends and make some new ones from Christ Church. Entry is $75 to cover golf cart, 18 holes, and lunch. Make your check out to Todd Fujinami and give it to him by June 26. Need more information? Need to borrow a set of clubs? Email Todd at threeputt1027@yahoo.com.

Coffee Mugs in June

During the month of June we invite you to bring new or gently used coffee mugs that we can donate to Network Coffeehouse, a local coffee shop that offers a place for our homeless brothers and sisters to come in for a coffee and a place to rest. There will be a collection box in the Giving Center in the Narthex. If you'd like to learn more about Network Coffeehouse check out networkcoffeehouse.org.

World Cafe

We have so many new people at Christ Church, it is time for another World Cafe event to get to know people. Join us after worship on Sunday, June 26th in the Fellowship Hall. World Cafe is like speed dating without the pressure of looking for a spouse. Everyone sits around tables and discusses questions that vary from "what was your favorite vacation" to "where do you feel God is most present in your life?" then after a few minutes we switch tables and chat with a new group of people. We'll share a as-you-can-pay pizza lunch.
